Yeah its a Georgian surname, but Mingrelians are an ethnic subgroup of georgians, and have surnames that end in -a, like Beria. My surname is Dgebuadze, but a few hundred years ago it was Dgebia, as my fathers side of the family is from that region of Georgia.

Beria was a very naughty boy.

What do the -dze and -vili suffixes mean? Are they just like 'son of'?
