The Rolling Stones
Ok, so I have pretty much realised now that the Stones are the greatest and coolest band of all time (with Jumpin' Jack Flash being pretty much the coolest song of all time). Is there anyone else here that shares this view and can enlighten me and some good albums to go for? My mum's had that Forty Licks compliation for ages and I've listened to bits and bobs here and there, but I recently picked up the albums Beggars Banquet and Exile on Main St, both of which are amazing. Salt of the Earth from Beggars Banquet is a supremely amazing song. I might go for Sticky Fingers or Let It Bleed next, can anyone else give me a bit of guidance, or just share your joy and love for the most rocking of all the boys in the history of rocking boys?

I don't know a great deal about the Stones, I've only listened to the hits and other bits and bobs. One song I really like by them is 'Under my thumb', so listen to that if you haven't heard it yet.

Re: The Rolling Stones
Funny story - they played 3 dates here in Chicago in 2002. One stadium date (70,000), one large venue (20,000) and one club (2,000). So I got on the phone like a maniac and managed to get tickets for the club date (all standing). So then we had to go to the venue the day before, get in line for hours and exchange our tickets for wristbands which we had to keep on to get in the gig the next day. SO the next day we go to the gig and we're in there. The Stones hit the stage to a madhouse and then proceed to tell everyone that it was a special show and they weren't going to be playing many of their usual hits/numbers. Instead, they were playing B-sides and cover versions as a treat for their "dedicated" fans. I couldn't believe it. As it turned out, they probably played 8 or 9 songs I knew all night, and one of those was spoiled by the fact that Bono came on stage and sang with them. The setlist was :
1. Start Me Up
2. Live With Me
3. Rocks Off
4. Hand of Fate
5. Torn and Frayed
6. Worried About You
7. Everybody Needs Somebody To Love (Solomon Burke cover)
8. Walk and Don't Look Back
9. Dance Pt. 1
10. Bitch
11. Slipping Away Additional Information: Keith Richards on vocals
12. Happy Additional Information: Keith Richards on vocals
13. It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It) (with Bono)
14. I Just Want To Make Love To You (Muddy Waters cover) (with Dr. John)
15. Honky Tonk Women
16. Rip This Joint
17. Can't You Hear Me Knocking
18. Jumpin' Jack Flash
19. Brown Sugar
Encore:
20. Tumbling Dice
Great night out and amazing to see them so close up, but I wanted to hear the hits !

Yeah. Where's Sympathy for the Devil and Gimme Shelter?
Pentagram's cover of 'Under my Thumb' is really good (largely because Leibling sounds quite a lot like Jagger on it...).
By contrast, Guns n Roses' cover of 'Sympathy...' is pants.
And the Stones, though, I do not own any of their stuff are indeed incredibly rocking.

There's an unseen fortune under their belts

This horde of wealth is a sickening display"

I have this...
I bought it because it looked funny...it's not very good.
‘She's a Rainbow’ is a beautiful song but apart from that…..a bit poo.

They played with my dad in the 60's, the bassist caught them stuffing socks down their pants to impress the birds.
