Dio solo wonders

Postby jonny_boy34 on Wed May 02, 2007 2:21 pm

Anyone fans of the mighty Dio? I take it you all are, otherwise you're all wrong in the brain. I've been wanting recently to listen to more of his solo stuff, as I only own Holy Diver and Killing The Dragon. KTD is nice, but a bit boring. I recently tried to seek out Master of the Moon, and ended up downloading it, and finding it also quite average, apart from the first two tracks whcih are great. But I hear some of his earlier albums are supposed to be real good metal treats. Anyone here experienced enough with the works of Dio to give me some suggestions?

Holy Diver, The Last In Line and Sacred Heart are his best. Along with the Intermission live album.
Dream Evil's decent although by that point Vivian Campbell had left and for me Craig Goldy just isn't as good.

Yeah dude, Last in Line and Dream Evil are well worth hearing, although there are one or 2 songs on Dream Evil that kinda suck (Sunset Superman  , what a crock of shite!)..

Sacred Heart may well also be worth hearing for 4 of the best Dio songs of all time!!!!

Or just buy one of the 10 (yes, 10!!!!) different Dio compilations, they should have all the essential tracks on them :)

DIO RULES!!!!! :rockdevil:

Dio is even better live. I think probally to get people started on dio would be the two anthology albums. Dont talk to strangers and all the fools sailed away and the song dream evil are probally my favourate Dio songs.

I too only have those 2 albums. So Jon, buy more and tell me what's good.

Anyone got the Holy Diver DVD? I was at the Southampton show on that tour. I'd love to see it again. Apparently his voice is lacking on it though.

As you know Mr Haigh, I was at the gig that was filmed for that DVD. It was absolutely amazing, again you know this because you saw him on the same tour. From what I recall, his voice was wonderful and full of splendour glory. It was many things, but it certainly was not lacking.

I got into Dio through a compilation I picked up for £3. Dio - The Collection is the one.
