It's arrogant to reject a claim that has no evidence? It doesn't matter whether or not it's been around for thousands of years, the default position is disbelief. I find it arrogant for these people to claim they have this knowledge without ever showing it's truth. I'd also say it would matter because you're talking about a being that can control everything about the world, damn you to hell, and do anything it wants. That isn't important or even interesting to you?

i had not read any of this thread till now, and to be honest, i cant be arsed to read all 4 pages, so if i am repeating someone elses answer or viewpoint, it isnt intentionally, but i am an atheist, and have nothing but contempt for religion of any sort. All religions have their own beliefs and to the followers of each religion, the belief that they are the only ones that are correct. This is what causes most of the unrest and friction in society now and always, along with those who chose to use religion as a cover for greed and the justification of hatred. All religion promotes eliteism and leads to nothing but trouble. The sooner people all stop following these superstistious bollock the better.

I dont know but alot of people seem to bum him but I just dislike people who are full of themselves. When he does talks at Universities etc and people ask him questions which go against what he thinks the majority of the time he'll give a knob head responce. Pretty much acting like a crazed evangelicist himself.

The reason why he gives a 'knob' head response is because the questions they ask him are usually very leading questions are just absurd logically. I've seen Dawkins refute the same points in almost every single lecture. You think the people would figure that out? Not the religious people.

I have seen him laugh off a few questions when he could have given a better answer, but overall I think he keeps his calm quite well, especially when he is interviewing total crackpots on his TV programmes.
