Ok... lol

gonna sound odd....but how exactly do i use a metronome to help me play better? I meen whats a good speed to set it on ...and then i just downpick everytime it clicks untill i can do it easily right?

A 'good speed' all depends on what you're playing. Half time the original tempo for things like scales, I'd say.

Any speed which you can just about play 16th notes at (four notes per click on the metronome). The trick is to start out at, say, 100bpm or whatever you can do and then gradually bump up the speed. If you start playing 16th notes at 100bpm and, a month later, can do the same at 120bpm, you know you're getting quicker. I'm not sure about downpicking everything, though. I mean, if you're just doing Thrash rhythms that's fine but people tend to use metronomes to get their alternate picking up to speed.

I used to use a metronome all the time but I can't sit and play scales without doing anything else now. I practise all the boring stuff whilst watching American Dad and actually learn songs or whatever when I can be bothered.

Michael Angelo Baito once told me that I must practice 24 hours a day at pulling stupid faces while I play a solo, and he said I'd have to grow the stupidest haircut the world has ever seen... Hence the reason I'm strictly a rhythm guitarist!!!
