Basically, 2 pilots were made and it never took off. I do remember hearing somewhere that in one of them the Cat was a dog, but I've never seen any evidence of that. Seems it's just popular rumour. That would totally change the dynamic of the show, they already have an excessive slob in Lister. There was definately a woman as the Cat in one of them though.

Yeah man, fucking shame. Would have loved to have seen the movie! I reckon it's about 5 years too late for that though. You know it'd be riddled with CGI now, even the last series had more than I care for. At least for Red Dwarf anyway. CGI is everything that Red Dwarf isn't.
