I have about £400 ($800) to buy a new guitar with. What would you guys recommend?
What I'm after:
Set or Neckthru construction
Ebony Fretboard
24 Frets
A minimum of cheap parts (pickups, bridges etc)
What I'd like but isn't cruicial:
Lowest Possible Action
Thin Neck (I don't consider, for example the neck on a DK2 to be thin)
Fretboard Binding
Double Locking Trem
7 Strings would not bother me at all.
What I'm not after:
EMG Pickups
New Seymour Duncan JBs
I am not against buying second hand or old guitars.
I've been looking at various Schecters and BC Rich models so far. For Example, a Bich or Mockingbird reissue. For some reason I see some have Rosewood and some have Ebony Fretboards though.
If I can get a Schecter 7 string on the cheap, it'll be getting at least one Bare Knuckle pup. Mwahahahahahaha.
Even though you people hate 7 strings for some reason.

Charvels there, not sure how thin the necks are as i haven't played many, but the jumbo frets really help for shread.
Arn't the Ibanez Wizard/Wizard II necks supposed to be stupidly thin?

You have to remember- It serves them right for being knuckle dragging northeners.

n00b!!!!
The only necks thinner (or better to play, for that fact) are probably mavericks and bc richs... unless you get a mega custom guitar, but for £400 I doubt that
I'd say get a maverick!!!! mine is really good, even though the neck is warped and the gutiar is generally fucked! hehe
choose wisely my son

For £400 your best bet would be a Kramer 1984, otherwise you're not going to get a new guitar with a Floyd Rose that is worth trying to use. The same goes for ebony. It's pretty much an expensive luxury.
You can lower the action yourself and thin necks are REALLY overrated. Why would you need a thin neck when the world's best players don't?
Avoid Ibanez like the plague: shit guitars and their trems aren't as good as they say they are.

Shoot her in the heart..... with your knob.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I'm sorry but:
- Poor trems
- Poor pickups
- Poor selection of wood (basswood)
- Very easy to break
I don't see what could actually make me want to own an Ibanez ever again. I'm sure they're good guitars once you reach the £1000 mark but, at the £400 mark, Ibanez is one of the last companies I'd recommend.

the trems are very poor that is true, but mine costs £500 and it had decent pickups but i swapped them for some better ones anyway! the body is not even made from basswood its mahogany and i carried it around in a soft case for two years playing quite a lot of gigs and it has never broke! plus it sounds fuckin heavy!
