Englishman in Texas - TURBID NORTH

Postby chriso21 on Sat Dec 19, 2009 7:10 pm

Hey Chaps,

Not sure if you remember me, but I used to play bass in Savage Messiah with Dave, James and Pete a couple of years ago. I left the band because i moved to Texas. When i got here i joined these other guys who had moved down here from Alaska. They had built quite a folowing up there and supported Drowning Pool who encouraged them to make the move. Their original bassist stayed the finish a degree and grow a family so that's where I fit in.
I learned the songs as soon as i got off the plane and have since played about 100 gigs in fort worth, dallas, denton, houston, austin, san antonio and Oklahoma.
We are just about to release our new album and I thought i would just drop a line to all of you to see what you thought of the band - I haven't been back to England since so if/when we get the chance to tour Europe it would be great to come to England and play with you guys again.
Anyway, great to see the scene is still flourishing. drop me a line if you like us!
Party on. :rockdevil:

Dude...

that fucking slays! Yes! Sounds quite panteraish at times (which is a good thing) but it has some storming riffs and the singer has a fucking good voice.

Nice work!

The demos on your page dont sound up to standard with the samples from the album you're recording. The album is sounding fantastic by the way! I would like to hear that one.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I was beginning to think all my English thrash comrades had turned their backs on me! haha.
Yeah, we have been working on this new album for about 8 months now. As we are recording, mixing and mastering everything ourselves round the guys house it afford us the luxury of taking our time to make it perfect, but it does bring in the element of perfectionism...
Also - the original singer from the myspace page left us before we started last year and moved back to Alaska. Our new singer used to be in a local Texas band called "Debri". They won a competition a couple of years ago when Ozzfest came to town here to open up the festival. He has a different sound (less Anselmo and more Cavalera).
Anyway, thanks again for the responses, As soon as I have a copy of the new album I'll drop you chaps a line if that's ok?

Nice one. I'll get it. I was going to say I'd like to hear different vocals, especially some Sepultura styled stuff. They'd fit perfectly man.

I can't tell you how exited about it i am - The guitarist does all this cool artwork and has drawn a super detailed picture for every song so we were planning on getting a double viynl record printed up so we can use them all... I'll let you know - anyone buy records anymore?

nope - stupid cheap. with the exchange rate, bands in England can get an awesome deal - his artwork is just as good as that baroness guy (i think). drop him a line on our myspace if you want something done - when we go out touring, he plans on doing art for other bands to keep him busy!

Just to give a little update to anyone who is interested - we will be playing a set for a band called WARBEAST for their cd release show here in Fort Worth on MAY 8th. They are signed to Phil Anselmo's record label HOUSECORE and he will be there to check us out. I'll let you know how it goes!
