As long as it doesn't suck, I don't care when the album was done.
I also like Gama Bomb, Mass Extinction and Evile more than a lot of 'old school' bands e.g. Death Angel.

Agreed.
Hmm if by "Modern Thrash" you mean the melodic gothenburg death thrash type stuff, cant say Im much of a fan of it, good for a listen once in a while though.
But if Modern you just mean made recently then as long as it slays it'll do me

I suppose it's pretty subjective. For instance I much prefer the newer Destruction stuff to their earlier material, although doubtless some will disagree. On the either side I really didn't care much for the latest Nuclear Assault album(or for that matter anything after H.W.C.) but their earlier work is certainly some of my favourite thrash. As far as new bands go I really like Hazardous Mutation by Municipal Waste

I do like some modern stuff if it kicks ass.But there's only ONE type of thrash and I voted old school!!!!!!
Realy and truthfully,In all my years of being a metal head I've NEVER believed in all this old school/new school debate, but what is catagorised as 'old school' I'd prefer to be called REAL!!!
BY that I mean bands and fans who are unequivicaly commited to the genre and all the glorious things that go withit ever since it began in the early 80's!
Bands who stick to the taditional values of thrash get more and more intense over the years! All the built up aggression and rebellion creates a heavier sound in the music when unleashed!!
Like I said modern stuff is OK if it kicks ass but they shouldn't be called 'thrash' if their heart is not commited to the true meaning and attributes of the game.
THE ATTRIBUTES: Total raw energy, rebellion, not giving a shit about perfection or whether the music will get anywhere, not worrying about status on thr current metal climate, not caring about slick production, fast riffs that stand out and rip your head off.

hmm, some of the newer stuff is wank because a lot of it has been purposfully (sp?) watered down for the alternative culture thats about these days; the old stuff only really spreads by word of mouth, its not put in front of you all the time like newer bands that are jumping on the bandwagon; and some people just cant listen past the production on the older things..
and just as there were great bands, im sure there were shit old school bands around back in the day just like now, but they obviously didnt stand the test of time and their names faded away. but back to the point, it doesnt really matter if it was released 2 years or 20 years ago; its either good thrash or shit thrash.
