who's got some recommendations in the more dark, evil sides of thrash metal? It's a style I've really been exploring reecently, although there's still plenty to hear.
I like the twisted sounds of bands ranging from the very thrashy like Dark Angel, Morbid Saint and Possessed as well as more black influence. I enjoy Desaster, and Nifelheim also have a cool old school feel to them.
Stuff like early Bathory is what is really floating my boat - I need eeeeeevil thrash!

yeah I love Venom, and yeah Celtic Frost are interesting. I can't really say I love them yet, but I need to hear more.
And of course early Slayer really is the business!

Celtic Frost (To Mega Therion and Morbid Tales) are sick! They sound as if they are diving into the depths of insanity and dragging you down with em'!
Check out the main riff on 'Procreation Of The Wicked' its totaly crushing and painful!
Obituary also do an ok version of 'Circle Of The Tyrants' on the Cause Of Death Album.

Not much a fan of Black Thrash or anything Black related. But I do like the early Black Thrash stuff such as Vulcano, Sarcofago, Holocausto, Necrodeath, Exterminator etc.

I've been taking a bit of a break from Blackend Thrash because I just had my fill of it for so long but one band that remains in heavy rotation is DESTRÖYER 666.

I second Destroyer 666, absolutely awesome. Fellow Aussie's Gospel Of The Horns have a very solid debut album (A Call To Arms) that you should check out too.
Also Japan's Sabbat, who are one of my all time favorites. The riffs these guys come up with are amazing.

D666 (/Razor of Occam), Vomitor and Gospel of the Horns....fucking Ozzie (Black)thrash kickass!
...and of course ol' good Bestial Warlust and Corpse Molestation!
going even further from Thrash...Disembowelment!
AC/DC?
...anyone count Tasmania?
Desaster dissapointed me on the gig (I seem to be the only one here), not as good as I expected them at all....shame. Nifelheim made that night!
