Yeah shame they're not playing at Corp or somewhere, but it's not far to go up to Leeds

And it seems I'm clearly out of touch with the smilies :-k

Well Corp is the only place in Sheffield where we get any good thrash gigs nowadays, except the odd Municipal Waste party at Casbah. Might go to the Leeds date.

Heh yeah, I don't know why I said "or somewhere" as I realised after I'd posted that there aren't actually any other decent venues in Sheff. Couldn't be bothered to edit though lol. Unfortunately missed the MW Casbah gig, can't remember why, think I had a deadline or something.

Leeds is clearly where it's at.

Hye Guys!

im the promoter for the london show!

this is a thrid party show (hiring the turtle)

tickets are £8 adv either found at http://heylondon.bigcartel.com or going to the venue itself during 5pm til late, there are just 250 tickets and 'Mutant' will also be opening!

i been working with the guys at the turtle for near enough 2 years, and all i can say is, they get 10489035717512439 messages a day asking for gigs. the way they run is they act as a platform for bands to perform at, not as promoters they do add their inhouse gigs to all listing sites.

they offer door splits to cover staffing costs (security, door person, sound guy), which is pretty fair enough. they use the money from the bar to pay electrical costs, bar staff ect. they do have a run of bands that do fuck all to promote themselves despite sending as many messages a day to try and get a london show. alot of bands have also run out on them leaving them with nothing to put on their nights.

in these examples they have to pay money out to staff involved. therefor potentially loose over £600, even if there is a last min cancellation (due to contracts ect)

its important to point out that these guys are a music venue and not promoters! and bands (in this example) who have the option to make as much money as they can should be the ones promoting it, after all they want the gigs.

now in the case of a promoter. they should not do pay to play because they have paid for a venue and paid for bands (often big ones) so they have to oppertunity to make as much money for him/her
