Right, 'ere we go, Melloboat 2009 is coming. Most of the line-up has been announced, in the top right corner on the website here: http://www.mellotronen.com/melloboat/
Not as wonderful as last year, but still wonderful, and Plankton and Promise & The Monster are back, which is most wonderful news. Meshuggah is unexpected and probably nice, don't know them very well.
Anyway, it's on April 24th next year (same weekend as FTA unfortunately), and tickets go on sale Oct 1st, which is nice. Don't think it will sell out, well not right away anyway, so there won't be any rush. But this is to prepare any other boys who might won't to come. I think me/Stu/Jamie/Paul (our friend Paul with a beard who not many of you know) will probably go again, so lovely boys and all, come hither!

I can't see any bands on that page. Please list them all for me.

I'm definitely going to consider this, I was hoping to have a nice little trip next year and this is at the perfect time.

Yeah it's a bit dodgy, sometimes the top frame doesn't load properly, that's the one with the list of bands on it. I'll type it out for you like the kind man I am.
Meshuggah
Steven Wilson/Lasse Hoile (UK/DK)
May Blitz (UK)
Black Bonzo
Beardfish
Plankton
Bootcut
Badge
Promise And The Monster
Emma Nordenstam
Piu
They're all Swedish apart from the ones that aren't. There are still two acts to be confirmed (I'm hoping one of them could be Witchcraft, as Stefan seemed quite up for that when we spoke to him about it last year, and he's friends with Magnus). I think this time it's also going to be over one day (23 hours it says) rather than 2, which is a bit of a shame. We'll just have to have a few days of Swedish fun again like last time. Excellent.

Well as far as I'm aware I like Plankton on that list. Oh dear.

Re: Melloboat 2009
Well hopefully there will be some great discoveries in there - part of the whole amazingness of the last trip was that there were loads of great Swedish bands that we'd never heard of before to discover. All we knew last time was Opeth and Comus (some people knew Bo Hanson but I didn't), and then we discovered good things like Promise & The Monster, Plankton, Qoph, Anekdoten and I can't remember who else. But basically, don't worry about not knowing any bands, that's half the fun, discovering new lovely things and such like.

Re: Melloboat 2009
I'd much prefer it if Opeth would just play.

Re: Melloboat 2009
Sounds rather excellent and i know none of the bands, so it will be a double magic time.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Re: Melloboat 2009
Yeah, I noticed a little while back. Couldn't go anyway because of the Mutant tour. But it's hilarious, there hasn't even been an explanation as to why it's been cancelled, the picture of the flyer on the myspace page just suddenly had a big red 'CANCELLED' written across it. Brilliant. But this is a great shame, it's such an amazing thing. I hope it's not cancelled forever!
