SACRILEGE!

Given that this place is called UK Thrash, SACRILEGE have received surprisingly little mention in the last 5 years, but for me their album 'Within the Prophecy' was definitely one of the most powerful products of the UK "scene".

This album totally capitalizes on the gritty magnificence of the 'Haunting the Chapel' sound, tempered with Venom's English bite and the addition of some hauntingly barbed female vocals. And with song titles like 'Flight of the Nazgul', what more could you want? Great riffs, great atmosphere.

There must be something about the bands that started off as punks, because this has the same grim attitude as 'Power From Hell' (by far Onslaught's most essential statement).

I don't have any other Sacrilege releases yet, but I understand they went in an altogether doomier direction on the follow-up 'Turn Back Trilobite', so I'm keen to investigate. They certainly deserve remembering!

Not heard.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Wicked band. Behind the Realms of Madness is well worth getting as well. It and Within Prophecy were released jointly ages back. I love the crusty style of it. Sort of fits in with Cerebral Fix, Axegrinder and Hellbastard (and, to a lesser or crustier extent, AntiSect) but Sacrilege are the best. I think After the Bombs do quite a good modern version of the style.

There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"
