Saxon!

Postby jonny_boy34 on Tue Feb 13, 2007 12:07 pm

I imagine that there must be quite a few people on this board who are fans of the mighty Saxon. Well, I hope so, anyway. I've always felt that this band are right up there with NWOBHM giants like Maiden and Priest, but they never seem to get as much credit or recognition as they do. So much mighty metal! Anyway, they've released the new artwork and soundclips from all the tracks from their new album, The Inner Sanctum. Go to http://www.saxon747.com and there it is for your face. The album sounds fucking great! Exactly how I would hope a new Saxon album would sound. Just great fucking heavy metal. And the front cover is definitely bloody metal for my face, wonderful. Can't wait to get the album now!

Saxon are great...but very known compared to absolute NWOBHM Masters like Witchfinder General, Withfynde, Cloven Hoof, Diamond Head, Jaguar, Pagan Altar etc etc etc....now heres bands that deserve more recognition!

I'm off to see them in March in Manchester. They're cool, but I'm going purely for Masterplan, who are one of my fave bands

I don't know if I can be ringed seeing Saxon. I like them but don't know that many songs that aren't off the 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums.

 to see them live that's all you need to know!!!! They play all the classics off those albums, a couple of tracks off the first one, a couple of tracks of the mid-80s stuff (after Crusader), Lionheart, and probably quite a bit of new stuff this tour!!!

Saxon are amazing live! I saw them at Bloodstock in 2003 (i think, could've been 2002), and they were so much fun I couldn't believe the fun. Biff is a mighty lord and they had the massive Eagle that lit up and blinded everyone, it was amazing! I recommend it to everyone who is a fan of heavy metal. I really want to see them on this tour but am running short on funds at the moment. Same old story really. Can't wait til I finish uni!

Yes indeed Jon. The cover looks wonderful, and the clips are pure Saxon metal. The cover for their first single looks terrible though. They use a different logo!

Where did you see the cover for the single? I can't find it. I know the logo you mean though, I saw it in a magazine advert for their new tour and thought, 'good lord, that's shit, I hope they don't use that on the album and try and be modern idiots.' Luckily, it's not on the album cover, which is great.

That's totally poor... looks like some "we're not emo" emo band cover (It looks like the cover from that emo band with some dude from blink 182 in i reckon), dammit!!!
