I attended the all day thrash gig yesterday, and it was fucking amazing, however i dont feel that venue was suitable, it was too small, the security were wankers, and the complaints of "stop banging on the floor" were quite frankly obserd, what did they expect!?
Admittadly i have'nt been to the old venue it was at either, the bristol something, but i heard it was far better, so who's with me when i say it should return to it's original venue?!
Thanks.
Ewan.

Hey Ewan thanks most of all for coming and your input.
Venue wise, I dont think they were expecting it to be that crowded and did'nt really know what to expect, normally the room we were in is for Salsa lessons etc.
The Bristol Pear is the spiritual home of Reanimator, but logistically for a gig of that size last night. Its something we could never pull off at the Pear. For example its much smaller in the layout and there are no adjoining rooms to store the bands equipment.
Im really glad you had a great time.

The pear is fine for reanimator gigs, but like povey just said, this would never have worked at the pear due to size limitations. The barfly would have been ideal, but they turned reanimator down, saying it was a "stupid idea to play 10 bands", well fuck them, cuz they missed a lot of revenue yesterday!!! Future "big" events should hopefully find a more suitable venue with bigger stage, ligting rig, decent PA and a food bar!!!! I can only imagine what all the people downstairs who were listening to daniel o donnell must have thought when 250 thrashers were all moshing, diving and slamming to mutant!!!!

ahhh fucking barfly, they probably turn any gig down that doesnt involve pissing bring them the gashing horizon!
yeah, would be good, kudos to the promoters, they're doing very well, they'll get somewhere. And yeah haha a little wedding party downstairs from a thrash full force onslaught, fun stuff. Some very intimidated looking middle-agers wondering around the bottom floor looking confused haha.

Yes Ewan that would be me.
Yeah we wont get into details about the Barfly but that was the polite version.
There is a distinct lack of venues in Birmingham and as we are only really grassroots we are limited to what we can get really.

yeah true true, but at the end of the day, thrashers will thrash anywhere haha, im sure something will come up, the whole UK Thrash scene is getting bigger by the day!
it will be on high demand soon, so venues will see the potential profits and open reanimator with open arms, dedicated support will all ways fuel thrash!
When is the next one btw? im definately going!

the venue and tech difficulties didnt spoil the night at all. If we had to i wouldnt mind going back there again. The question is would they take you back?

awesome day/night, cheers to the reanimator lads for a great show.
Thrash Bitch!
As for moving the gig back, it was a really random venue, and the Pear did have a better atmosphere. The new one wasn't bad or anything though, just different. So I dunno, either is cool to me. Barfly would be perf though.
Tom!
bye

Thanks for input on this. The Irish Club is indeed a far from ideal venue, but we had some 'difficulties' with the management - both us and they weren't happy for various reasons which I don't need to go into. I didn't think personally that the venue was too small however, and I think that everyone at the gig had a great time.
Booking a Saturday night gig in Birmingham is virtually impossible for grassroots metal promoters - the cost of venue's is extremely prohibitive and management of larger venues are very unhelpful. We're always looking into other venues/solutions, but we do what we can with what is available to us.

"The question is would they take you back?" why wouldnt they, im a paying thrash supporter lol!
yeah im not denying it was a great night because, well, it was absolutely fantastic, was just looking for your opinions on the venue, and no i dont detest going back to the irish bar but i was simply stating it wasnt ideal i suppose. But hey, aslong as theres thrash, girls and beer, im sure we can deal with any issue's haha.
im fairly new to the uk thrash seen, and im amazed by the dedication of both the bands and the fans.
Im sure my friend learnt his lesson from having sex in the toilets haha. Well at least i hope he has.
