Yup, The legacy is a thrash essential. Over the wall, raging waters and burnt offerings are classics.

Their other stuff is OK'ish except The Gathering which is the dog's dangly bits. Andy Sneap had a hand in that album too.

Anyone else got the Legacy demo?

I actually prefer the production on that to the Legacy. It's quite cool hearing Zet on the tracks too.

What is their best album?

I picked up The New Order a while back because that one seemed to get the most solid reviews.

However, I thought it was pretty so so - some stand out tracks, but nothing mind blowing. I hardly listen to it.

I think they are really important. When your average metal kids starts listening to thrash they start with the big four then Testament. Its the way it happened for me anyway. I've grown a bit tired of them but they are worth listening to now and then.

Souls of Black is probably my favourite, less fannying around with acoustic guitars between tracks. Seven Days of May is my favourite Testament song - it was on the fucking setlist for London and they pulled it because of the curfew!

No doubt of importance....seems like a lot of people had their 'Testament phase' as a kid. Definately an easy way into thrash metal.

p.s. ...James, doesn't this belong into the Thrash talk folder?

I went through a Testament phase about 3 or 4 years ago. I bought a couple of their albums and just listened to them non-stop because I was getting bored of the big four being my only Thrash outlet. I still listen to them these days but not nearly as much. I mainly listen them to just hear how fucking good Skolnick is.

Yeah he gives me a full on chubby every time I hear him. He reminds me a lot of Marty Friedman but for some reason I think Skolnick is a little bit better.
