Yeh this shall be my plan also.

Bit annoyed that Overkill clash with Saxon, but since Saxon get 2 hours anyway, I think the full Overkill set and an hour of Biff e'll be enough.

If so can you give me a little heads up about the trains and all that mother bitching bollocks. Yes I've looked at the Wacken site but that is in very bad english and not really that helpful.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think there's some sort of shuttle service from the airport to the campground itself. I'll tell Plod to give you some infos, he went last year by plane.

I'm going on the 31st
I understand it's plane, bus from hamburg airport to hamburg train station which is 15-20mins, train from the train station to itzehoe, and then a bus (shuttlebus?) from itzehoe to wacken
but i don't know about exact details more than that
apparently if you group up with people at the train station then it is cheaper to buy a group ticket
or you can get a taxi from the airport or something, but that would be the more expensive option

exactly what katze said dan wei, 'cept it's not a shuttle bus from itzhoe to wacken (at least i didn't see one last year) it's a service bus. Though last year, it was raining so we got a taxi from itzhoe to wacken itself.
The train ride was fun, a group of friendly germans we befriended gave us all beers to help conquer the boredom.

i think maybe the train fare was 5 or 6 euros?
Bus no more than a couple, and shuttle the same.
So no more than 10 really... round and about
