This is the first Ive heard of anything being cancelled.
How come some bands knew that it wasnt going ahead?
Pitiful Reign have got non-refundable hotel rooms, booked and paid for in advance
on account of having to do around a 400 mile round trip
A message might have been nice...
Firstly the festival is postponed and not cancelled, it will take place eventually. I apologise if it's taken 'til now for me to post but i had to be sure that i had all the facts in place. A few people up here knew about it shortly before i posted about it because i was trying various avenues to find an alternative so i kinda had to mention it. I'm sure if you press the issue with the relevant people you must be able to get a refund on your rooms if not then i offer further apologies. Most of the bands on the bill either know about it or in a couple of cases have contacted me to say they had to withdraw from the line-up anyway.
Well you can rest assured that Pitiful Reign now know about it, because I told them.
and non- refundable means what it says on the tin
ie . We lose money

Just ring them up and ask about the reservation.. then tell them that they (omg five 't' words in a row ) have booked the wrong date by accident and that your reservations were supposed to be different.. then say that you don't want to stay there after all the hassle they've caused
i wonder if that made sense

it does, Thank You
It wont work unfortunately, but it made sense.
However, its not really about the money in any event.
I threw my toys out of my pram
1) because of the disappointment at the show not going ahead, and
2)mainly, that we hadnt been told of it.
Communication with the bands is vital when you are putting on any show, to keep people informed, whether its good or bad news.
I got ratty because some bands were told and others werent, and thats not good.
I apologise for being a mardy old girl

I can understand how frustrating it is when you don't know what's going on because of communication madness. My band have been in contact with the worst promoter to ever have been born recently, and every single gig we've done for them has been an absolute nightmare. Mainly because she never tells us what's going on, and when she does it's usually a lie. And she never replies to any messages or anything.... AAARARRGGGHH!! I hate that bloody woman.

Only one band knew and that was Hallowed Point purely because i was discussing possible alternatives with Dave and Luci so i kinda HAD to mention something.

Putting on any show isnt easy and to be fair, you are not a promoter, and wouldnt realise half of the shit that you have to be prepared to do or think about when you are putting on a gig of this size
What you tried to do was admirable
but its not easy
