Hello people.
I have (I think) booked the Unicorn for Nov 27th and I need bands to play. I would like metal bands of any genre.
The thing is, it's a gig that aims to raise some funds for a group called Viva Palestina. They organise a convoy (from Slough, I believe) to Palestine via Europe heading down into Africa. They require funds for aid and also people to go, if they can (from 5th Dec to Boxing Day, this year). I'm trying to draw a 'right-on' metal crowd because I think the crusty punks are pretty much covered with this area.
Any ideas? I can't get on to myspace so I'd appreciate e-mails or directing people to this thread. Also I can be PMed on this sheet.
Help me.
Oh and all come down. I have been reading up on the situation recently and it's an interesting and horrific situation. I'm reading Tanya Reinhart's (an Israeli linguist who has turned her hand to the current situation) analysis and, if you can deconstruct the areas of exaggeration, you can see just how terrible the palestinina situation is. Any help has got to be worthwhile.
Cheersm.

Oh no Caps!
As much as I want to support you on your righteous endeavours, on this night I am going to see GONG. Good luck with your joy.
Flowers of Flesh and blood for example perhaps? Although I know Keith is a massive Gong fan so he'll probably be at that gig too... Maybe you should get Nebs and Freshney and be done with it.

It isn't going to be a shipment full of guns and bombs, is it? I'll try and get to this, whoever you get playing. If there's a couple of decent bands, even better. Will it be donations or a charge on the door, by the way?

Well, I think I have the ok from Chug. Will be asking Flowers too because they're always a joy. I would like to ask El Schlong if anyone could ask them. Also Dead Existence or Nebukadnezza would be a lovely finish if people know if they'll be available.
The aid was largely medical until Egypt apparently took a liking to it and started confiscating from the drive. Some is still taken, mind. Then they clothes and other necessities. No bombs - there seems to be enough in the region as it is...
Unicorn never charge but there will be a donation request (by no means madatory) of a measely two quid and also a raffle. I need to sort out prizes. I might buy some CDs for it. Any preference for a spirit prize? Jagermeister?

If it's only two quid I can't really justify not going, especially as Damnas is a no go the day before. I'll buy a couple of raffle tickets and the like as well, so I have a nice warm feeling of doing the right thing for a change.

Bugger, I was looking forward to another weekend full of free gigs. Still, I'm not going anywhere, so stick it up on here whenever something gets confirmed.
