Metal Iain wrote:Weren't Metallica's roots just rehashed Saxon songs, though? It annoys me that Metallica or any band, for that matter, would go about saying they're getting back to their roots. They wrote their original stuff as angst-ridden teens who drank too much and snorted cocaine. Now they're middle-aged, hippy millionaires who go to rehab and therapy for everything. They're pretty much the antithesis of what they were 25 years ago so I think it's pretty stupid to think they can just go back to 'where they came from'. Going back to your roots is also practically an admission that the band has gone shit. Whilst we can say that, I don't think a band should in normal circumstances.
Completely correct. That's why they're rubbish, because they're trying to be something they're just not anymore, and they don't know who they are now.

Just as Dave Mustaine will never be the same without the drugs, Jaymz wil never be the same without the alcohol. Sad but true...dun, dun dun, dinna, dinna, dinna...

They didn't even have the courtesy to take a break for a while. If a bus fall on my mate when he was almost certainly already dead, I'd probably be upset for a while.

No that is the opinion of the splinter group The Real Metallica Purist.

Being a reviewer I thought you'd know reviews are just a load of bollocks?
