That's it, herald his return with that Office humour he loves!
I wonder if he even realised he was blacklisted..

Re: Winds of Change
This has all just gone fucking silly, my main issue with what was happening was every thread getting completely hijacked and all posts that are related to the original topic getting ignored/ridiculed. Lets just go back to having multiple conversations within one thread eh?
Iain's whole this is 1930's germany on the internet idea was obviously just another joke, that seems to have been misinterpreted. As for the ban thing, there are only so many times you can flash your balls at a tiger without it eating them on toast.
As i see it, lets just carry on as before, just calm down a little Iain. Not every thread needs you to say Gant 15 times, or some rambling about someone's mother gape. Some do most defiantly, all in moderation as James said.
Now can i have a Jaffa cake?

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Craig wrote:To elaborate on the reason why Iain was banned: it wasn't (as Iain will probably be one of the first to try and insinuate) an attempt to be all authoritarian and enforce the rules with an iron fist - but more or less because he was blowing the whole issue completely out of proportion, as I've already said in previous posts, and (in my mind anyway) needed to grow up a bit.
It isn't going to be an all-out crackdown because - to be honest - neither myself nor James actually have the time or the energy to police things that much!
I just think there are unrealistic expectations being placed on UK Thrash. As a couple of people have said, there doesn't seem to be much going on at the moment in terms of Thrash in the UK. When you take away the Thrash, as HCL noted, you are left with the banter. Yeah, I'm sure people would like to see UK Thrash be returned to its initial state (as if there wasn't name-calling from the start), but I don't see it happening.
As for name-calling and what not, I still see it as the exception rather than the rule. Sure, if someone like ribbons69 tries to put me down, having not originally been part of the argument, I'm going to react fairly strongly.
To be honest, I can't really be fucked analysing the Reform Programme of late seeing as it's so vague I can't quite work out what is and what is not acceptable. At first the issue seemed to be with personal insults (hairy muff) and blasé replies to threads. I'm still seeing a lot of the latter...

Re: Winds of Change
Basically the whole thing was never meant to be a 'Reform Programme' to start with, so no wonder you find it vague.
Dian Wei summed up the main point - as long as every single thread doesnt get instantly derailed by blunt remarks, which was undeniably getting a bit excessive of late (lull in the scene or not), then we're happy. This doesn't mean various tangents can't be taken within the same thread, although it would be nice if when a thread is obviously delivering some valuable scene news or whatever, it is still possible for the casual browser to get something out of it.
End of story, no?
