IMPORTANT - READ FORUMERS!

Postby Atom on Mon Jan 10, 2011 8:23 pm

Me and my dastardly partner in crime Mr. J. Elton are planning a night of blaspheme in London town.

Please answer this question...

What would you like in a metal party night (aside from chicks) and what would you be willing to pay (if anything) to gain entry?

Answers on a postcard!

Thanks!

Cheap drink, late hours, close to the tube.

Entry 3/4 quid perhaps.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

No Kushners's allowed.

But yeah this is a real thing, we want it to be a most absolutely righteous night, Heavy Metal top of the class. If you have anything you could add or request that would make this night head-bangingly good for you please let us know!

obviously we wont be playing any Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, King Diamond or any other poser crap. only proper metal like limp bizcuit etc... cool!

I think for me it would simply come down to hearing great songs that don't get played much elsewhere, it's hard to think of what more a club night should offer. I remember some quality Metal Mass nights at Bar Monsta while they lasted, you could always expect to be pleasantly surprised by '80s gems.

Also, enough space to sit and chat - that may sound lazy, but I always prefer places where there is room to sit and listen to the songs with some mates, rather than standing like sardines for the whole night.

And how about props? I'm thinking an occult, halloweeny vibe, if it's not too impractical.

Oh, and chicks.

I think about £4 would be the upper bracket people would pay on the door.

Another cool thing is occasional live appearances, like the Crobar sometimes does, nice and low key with DJs afterwards.

Entry up to £5 as long as there are good deals on drinks. To be honest, a night of genuinely good metal music with reasonable priced alcohol and a more club-like vibe than the Crobar/Intrepid Fox would be great.

And it has to be called 'A Night of Balspheme'.

Just call it "Blaspheme", you could pull all the trendy boys as well with that name.

The main thing is to have good deals on drinks as caps said, James's ideas are decent but not everyone is a 65 year old man (don't get me wrong, I mostly am)

Also a big point is don't try too hard, one of the most annoying things about nightclub promoters around my way (there are a few) is telling them to fuck off for the fifteenth time because once again i don't want to go to a all nighter of indie music.

havent had internet in flat since november and wont be getting internet there for the remainder of the contract(3more months) :-(
i will make the effort to post loads and more often in april when i move back to my parents place (with gf)
i miss visiting/posting regularly

anyway, its been a while since my last gig/meet up and i really think 2011 would start nicely with a get together and if this idea could become regular thatd be a bonus.i think in order to be a success the venue should have affordable enough drinks so that no1 keeps drinking at the nearest newsagent.im sure many a venue has suffered or had poor takings on these trial nights due to skint metal fans always getting tins round the corner/over the road etc.
if entry was cheap enough ie £2-4,all the peeps who draw out a tenner from cashpoints will have enough for at least 2 drinks in the venue.
if the skint among us prefer tins, then why not buy a few well in advance proir to the date/day of this event and then just consume as many as they like during the afternoon and on the journey to the venue.then at least pay for 1 or 2.
its like at the unicorn, people go buy tins, fair enough, money is tight but at least have 1 pint in there considering the entry is free.we at least owe them that.

same with this event,if the entry can be minimal, just to cover Tom/Jamies expenses for putting it together/flyers/promoting etc, then we could all buy a few drinks to increase the chance of overall success and then it could progress from there.

aside from my beer price waffle,i think there should seriously be a dude food contest.or something along the lines of eating/drinking games.nothing major, just a low key contest at a corner table or something.

how about pool tables/darts?maybe bands could vs bands or metal fans vs locals etc.

maybe me and Carl could document some of the shenanigans for youtube and it could be a monthly/quarterly/regular feature on metalperv tv.

heres some slightly more random ideas if its a party:a drunken air guitar/drumming competition to selected tracks? thrash poetry recitals ie:cliche lyrics sang in whatever stupid vocal style. a name that tune comp. maybe even a pub trivia quiz based on metal with teams and a fancy dressed quizmaster.

just some ideas.although some are more immature than others, but thats surely the appeal to have silly lovlely boy fun times.

What day of the week would this be on?
I'd pay up to £4 entry.
Sounds awesome.

Good point. Obviously over the weekend would be best.

What is everyone's beef with spending a fiver on entry? I can't see why people are so desperate to get a pound back from their five pound note - that definitely won't get you a drink. However, it's clearly some psychological thing and it looks like it could make a difference in terms of crowd so it seems four pound would be the sensible limit.

I think some of Rik's ideas are really cool but might work for an introductory night or something instead of being a regular feature - possibly too much organising and the novelty could wear off. Except pool tables. Haven't been to a club with a pool table in years. If it's a possible feature that would be well cool. However, I don't think it'll make or break the club.

Cheap drinks, cool music, strippers (fuel girls n what not - although a cheaper slaggier alternative would be smashing!)

Pay a fiver + Free shot on the doors @ entry?

And NOT on a Sunday!
