er...ranting

So i was watching the news this morning and i hear that Live Nation and AEG are to go into a bidding war over the Olympic Stadium, they want to turn it into a live music venue after the Olympics. We already have the O2 (nice but overpriced) Wembley stadium and arena (shit sound, overpriced) Earls Court (good venue as a boy but still shit and overpriced), Milton Keynes Bowl (went ozzfest 98, sound was ok) so i cant see yet ANOTHER stadium being any good, BBC are already saying it will be a mecca for music, bollocks, it will be a big corporate soul sucking shithole run by greedy cunts who sign the likes of Lady Cuntface, put it this way, the more massive arenas these bastards gobble up, the less chance there is of smaller places (like something to replace the fucking Astoria) coming up and hosting good live music. Right now 02 academys are the only choice, O2 again!!!The other problem is that arenas are just an excuse for huge acts to rip off fans and charge huge amounts to see em live, Roger Waters is charging £80 for The Wall, Aerosmith cashing in too...£106 a ticket! Obviously they pay to Hire the arena, back in 96 i heard it cost £10,000 a night to use Earls Court but cmon, these guys playing are always on the 100 richest so fuck off with ya millions! ACDC at the 02 was £45 but they could of gone overboard and it was a pretty impressive show...basically i hate "the man"

Big bucks in live music now, as less and less people are buying it in the physical form.

I mean look at gigs and how many people play "promoter" in a DIY setting compared to say 5-10 years ago.

Ahhh I remember the days when I was a promoter!

Good times.. good times.. (actually the worst, most stressful times ever!) .... good times....!

I can't sympathise with promoters enough. Especially when there are bands like Heretic about.

This is why I hardly ever bother going to big shows any more. And I'll never go to an arena show. My problem is that you spend all that money and then all you see are some teeny tiny little figures in the distance. Give me little shows where you can interact with the performers and have a beverage of your choice with them afterwards. And let's not get started on getting into and leaving such massive venues....

AEG? Don't they make white goods? Are they planning on turning the olympic stadium into the world's biggest laundrette?
