Capital Punishment dvd:Damnas,River Freshney,Sigil(OUT NOW!)

Postby radioactive rik on Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:03 pm

as some of you may know im currently gathering footage for a dvd(inspired by Lewis/Torso's Toxic Tapes).
for this project i will be featuring 3 london bands which combine a raw mix of Thrash and other metal elements/styles.

the bands featured are:
Damnas
River Freshney
Sigil

each band will feature for at around 1hr-75mins each.(so over 3hours in total)
there will be gig clips, interviews and some other features.
unfortunately no audio commentary, however there will be a chapter menu and bonus features section.

it will be a freebie giveaway(or £2 through paypal if you want one mailed/posted out to you)

i will be initially starting with 100 copies.it will be in a dvd case with cover art/cd label/flyers etc.

it will be ready for release sometime in may(as im still gathering more clips until early april)

each band will recieve 15-20 copies to do whatever with(ie:members have their own copy each/give out to crew and friends/swap at gigs with other bands/use as promo items or merch deals etc)
this will leave around 40-50 odd for me to post give out/post out etc.

anyway hands up who wants a copy as
this will give me an idea and determine whether i need to start with 100 or maybe reduce to the run to 75.

thanks

if you didnt leave your copy of Toxic Tapes behind at that gig  im sure youd see that theyve covered many bands.
Toxic Tapes 2 will be out soon so youll get your as you put it,"way more bands" fix then.

i wanna focus on 3 specific bands each time.for example this one will see a blend of bands who combine Thrash,Hardcore and Death elements with a gritty/urban street feel and whom i believe have a certain raw and real energy about them.

also if i were to cover vast amounts of bands around the UK then it would mean travelling all over the place and would be a lot more difficult to communicate/obtain the additional material and arranging all the behind the scenes stuff.

who knows, maybe if this dvd goes down well then maybe i will cover another 3 bands, next time with the theme of crossover/punk style thrash bands.

but this one will be an insight into each of the bands rather than giving some bands more/less air time than others(if i had to add more bands into the dvd)

thing is,60-75mins sounds a quite long time for each band segment however i plan to keep the viewers attention on each band by interweaving the gig clips with interview chunks and the other material rather than just play all gig clips followed by all interview clips for example.
it is in depth enough to give a decent amount of understanding of what each band are about.

Does sound wicked cool as i havnt really ever heard much from Sigil.

And of corse it will be nice to get an insight into the other 2 bands!

I will be sure to plug this in my fanzine if i can ever decide how to get it out the door !
