I agree, but in the position of hard-working professional bands who put their whole life, finances and livelihood into their band, their priorities change, therefore their view on illegal activities affecting their income is bound to change.

It's an alright quote, but honestly. Can anyone really imagine that making Pizza for a living is anywhere near as good as being in a band? You're not going to ever play at Pizza festivals, meet your pizza making heroes, and maybe one day make it big and make millions spending a couple of hours a night making a few pizzas in front of thousands of adoring fans.

im not one for downloading anyways, i like to buy albums sit and listen from track 1 - 12 (or whatever) and read through the lyrics and booklet.

There's only one true reason I don't buy CDs. 'Cause vinyl is the win.

I agree, bands should get rewarded for their work. Ten pence per band member per album sold, however, is hardly my idea of rewarding them.I was actually quite impressed by what Radiohead did with their new album, i.e. putting it up for download and allowing people decide how much they thought it was worth. Mind you, you have to have the money to be in that situation in the first place.

Amen. I like the whole package. I don't really have downloading facilities but occasionally I get boy wonder Jamie to put a rarity onto a CD for me.

However, I don't see any problem with downloading. Ultimately, listening to/paying for music is a luxury and not one all can afford. I have been proper broke for about two and a half months and when I did get some money through I went straight out and bought some CDs. However, in that lull I would not have felt it 'wrong' of me to test out a couple of albums via download (I do tend to use myspace tracks for tasters).
At the end of the day, fans should and probably will buy the albums their favourite bands produce and those that aren't fans can be exposed to a band's music when before it would be completely ignored and unreceived. Basically, does it matter whether Iain doesn't buy the album and assumes it shit or downloads it and makes the decision that it is shit?

Still, I don't think links are necessarily appropriate to new major releases (well... major in relation to thrash).
