Bottom or Young Ones?

Postby Metalbrew Stu on Fri Feb 16, 2007 12:18 am

What are people's opinions on this? I think that Bottom is the clear winner. Young ones just had too many bizarre moments with weird puppets that I never found funny really. And the slapstick in Bottom is a class above.

Although Young Ones did provide the classic
"Sorry Frank, I thought you was a nigger"

Bottom by a million miles because Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson, in addition to being much funnier than Ben Elton and the Young Ones cast, write and perform Bottom on their own.

IMO, Bottom is one of the finest comedies ever produced.

I have all three series, all the live shows and Guest House Paradiso and am in perpetual hysterics watching them.

I'm tempted to say Young Ones just to be non conformist... But then it would be lies. Bottom was way better, specially the live shows!
I'm going to
Tear your fuckin' eyes out,
Rip your fuckin' flesh off,
Beat you 'till you're just a fucking lifeless carcass,
Fuck you and your progress,
Watch me fucking regress,
You were made to take the fall,
Now you're nothing!!

The Young Ones. We used to watch it when it was first shown and then leg it down the pub to piss ourselves while discussing it.

It has to be The Young Ones. This will all come down to what era you were born. The Young Ones is fully responsible for the warped sense of humour i have :D That said, Bottom was essential viewing for a couple of series.
