Favourite Bands/Band

Postby Bangover on Fri Jan 19, 2007 3:31 pm

Probably been done a billion times already but who are your ALL time favourites or favourite?

For me my all time favourite band is Black Sabbath imo they where the driving force in inventing metal, some may disagree. They were first band i bought a CD of and no other band since has been able to give me the same excitement when i listen to them and they were the band who really got me into music, inspired me to play guitar etc.......but i tend to ignore the non ozzy era and just pretend it doesn't exist..

My other all time favourites include Exodus, Sabbat, Forbidden, Iron Maiden

my undisputed top 2 are:

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest

After that, it gets considerably more disputed, but Sabbath would clearly be up there too! I really don't like making favourites lists

Well done, basically I completely agree... almost. Until a few months ago, Maiden and Priest had been my top 2 for many years. But slowly and surely, Tool and Opeth have gradually been taking over my life. Actually Tool were my favourite band before Maiden took over, but since a few months before 10,000 Days came out, I began to realise that no one really is better than Tool. Well, obviously they are, but not for my brain. And Opeth also have the ability to take over my life and make me want to weep considerably every day.

So Tool and Opeth are secretly my favourite bands, but so are Priest and Maiden. Though if Maiden release one more album with 10 pointlessly long songs with acoustic intros and outros, I'll hate them forever. Unless all the songs are like The Legacy.

ALL TIME favourites? Goddamn. I guess the pinnacle would be Rage Against The Machine: they were my first rock band, they indoctinated me with leftist ideals and ultimately chose the entire direction of my life. However in the past year, Megadeth have come into my life and just beaten the shit outa everything else I've ever known. So I guess it's RATM or Megadeth...

Nice.

It changes all the time really. Judas Priest will always be one of my favourites. I suppose they really started me on the true path to where I am now, unless that was maiden. I don't know. But it'll be hypocritical not to say priest since I've got their logo tattooed on my arm.

Sabbath have always been a band that evoke a lot of feeling in me. The first 6 albums produce a feeling inside that is like no other bands man. But a quick list:

Metal:
Priest
Sabbath
Maiden

Non metal
Captain Beefheart
Jethro Tull
King Crimson

At the moment:

Ace Frehley/Frehley's Comet
Kiss
Skid Row
Van Halen
W.A.S.P.

I'm so burned out on Thrash at the moment. I've not been in the mood for angry Metal in about 2 months. I think I may finally be growing up.

Definitely Black Sabbath for me as well actually, although don't ignore their non ozzy stuff! I did for a while as well but I was young and naive.. Dio fucking rules as well and I've been giving the rest of it a chance as well recently.
