I've seen Diamond Head a couple of times in the past 6 years or so and they've been fucking rubbish both times. I'm not wasting £10 on them again.

i remember when i went to see them at nottingham rock city in 1990, a few days before the monsters of rock festival at donnington. They were supported by a band called damage inc. and as you may know, in the past, metallica have done warm up shows for festivals as the four horsemen, frayed ends etc, so as it was a band called damage inc, and just before the festival, word circulated is was another metallica secret warm up show. However, when the band came out, and it obviously wasnt metallica, and they were shit, and diamond head were nothing more thsan average, it was a real downer

Re: Diamond Head warm-up show
The band now longer has Sean Harris on vocals, so it doesn't really interest me that much anymore. It's only Brian Tatler from the classic line-up these days, isn't it? The videos I have seen with this Nick Tart guy have been pretty naff. The My Space samples of newer tracks doesn't inspired me either.
Are you sure the Nottingham Rock City gig was in 1990? I didn't think they came back till a few years after that. I caught the relaunch gig at the Marquee, where they had an exclusive white cover 12" EP for sale. They were good that night, but nothing compares to seeing them back in 1980 (I saw them a few times that year) when they were incredible.
A year or so after that they played the Milton Keynes Bowl show in 1993, which wasn't overly great. It was far better than the "Canterbury" tour show I saw at Leicester University though, which showed a band on its last legs. There is an official video from that show, which was available exclusively through their fanclub.
I have seen Metallica as Damage Inc. That was the infamous 100 Club show in '87. However, the Encyclopaedia Metallica says they supported Metal Church that night. That's crap - they headlined! It was so hot in there that night, I nearly passed out.
They did support Metal Church at the Marquee in May 1990 though, under the name of "Vertigo". The first I knew about it was some 50+ year old Japanese guy coming up to me in the queue and asking me if Metallica were playing there that night. It must have been kept relatively quiet, as the Marquee was nowhere near packed that night.
