Terrible terrible news! Why would they do this. Its bad enough them having that goon dukes butchering the old exodus songs live but the thought of him on BBB is grim. Holt needs his head checked

This is a good point - hardly any 80s thrash album would hold up to the scrutiny of the modern metal sound which seems to crave absolute clinical crispness and plastic drums (except Reign in Blood, in terms of power but not in terms of plasticness), so this whole idea is totally missing the point.

I have no problems with the production of BBB. I can't see any benefit coming from redoing it.

The thing is, I don't think I've EVER heard a re-recording which I like more, or even as much.

Re: Exodus re-recording Bonded By Blood, which I think is nice
I think it's to be a two-disc thing with Exodus doing the whole album on one disc and bands like Machine Head , Sepultura and Testament doing songs on th'other. They talked about doing a remix & remaster with bonus tracks as a 20th Anniversary Edition but it must have been pushed back for the 25th Anniversary [it was recorded in 1984]. Commemorating an album like BBB with a revamped edition consisting of demos and shit is one thing, re-recording the entire album, however, seems to contradict Gary Holt's 'we're a band for the future' mentality that saw them drop butt-loads of songs from the set in favour of 90 percent of the Shovel Headed Kill Machine album on that tour. A little bit of consistency would be nice.
I just can't see this working where similar hare-brained ideas on the part of Anthrax, Destruction, Testament et al didn't.

BBB is the only Exodus Studio album that I have never owned. Only every heard the songs live so I can't comment on the production on the original. Not a huge fan of Dukes though so it will probably be a bit disappointing. Wonder if they will play the songs tuned to D /drop C?? The only re-recorded thingy that I can remember actually working was when Suicidal Tendencies did the "Still Cyco after all these years" thingamybob.

Aye, I'm assuming they'll play it in D.
I can't believe you've never heard the studio versions.

Problem was, I got Fabby D first and then got POTF (bearing in mind we are talking 1989 here). I didn't really like POTF much at the time compared to Fabby D so didn't really have the urge to go and check out anything before that.

But that was 19 years ago!
Have you never even had the urge to download it just to see if it's shite?

Listen to Saxon's Heavy Metal Thunder, a re-recording of a selection of wonderful Saxon classics. It's amazing and is a very good example of a re-recording that was definitely worth doing, if you compare them to the originals. Biff is the lord of all.
I didn't realise this would upset so many people. I haven't actually listened to anything Exodus have done apart from Bonded By Bloody (Bloody was a typing error because I'm so used to typing 'bloody', but I thought I'd keep it as it made me chuckle inside) and that Toxic Waltz malarkey, so I didn't realise they had become so terrible. Maybe this isn't a good thing then!

Yes, they have become a bit of a joke since they dumped a couple of band members and started trying to look hard despite being in their mid-40s.

Nah. I am pretty sure Scoob downloaded it and he wasn't that impressed so I didn't bother taking it off his hands.
