At least Scotland played well and actually beat a difficult team in their campaign, twice. I'd have been quite annoyed if England had qualified not just because I'd have to put up with biased coverage of Euro 2008 but also the fact that had England qualified they'd have done so with the same number of points as Scotland.

We're two places behind England in the Fifa World Rankings and I reckon Scotland would beat England were they to play in the near future. Put it this way, Scotland got more points than England from a group that was exponentially harder than England's. Scotland had a better chance of qualifying than England for whom qualification should have been a mere formality. This was part of the reason I was really hoping Scotland would qualify, as it would have finally shattered England's unjustified self-belief and make them say 'Well fuck me, Scotland are officially better than us. How, in the name of Greek buggery, did that happen?!' To which I could say, 'Well, it's a combination of Scotland being better than England and England being shit.'

Haha yeah I see your point about wanting Croatia to win but that was more aimed at the English posters. Admittedly it did look like Scotland were going to qualify at one point and it kind of sucks they didnt. Although I don't think what you said proves Scotland as the better team, even if they did qualify for the European cup. But whatever that argument isn't something I worry about.

It's just a shame they did away with the annual friendlies. I might never get the chance to help dig up the pitch at Wembley.
