My mate text me today saying Ozzy was playing. I got all excited. But he's not. April Fools joke. Funny.

The highlight of the festival for me was Dave Insane running onstage wearing a white shirt and REALLY BIG white sweat bands while playing a really OTT shredding solo. I spat my beer out in appreciation. Then he started "Singing" and I shit my little pantz.

Did you get to see Motorhead? The rain meant that many ran for cover so I was able to get to the front. They were bloody awesome. I rolled a crappy spliff in one of toilets and it was GAME ON. One of my freinds found a stranger asleep in his tent...poor kid thought we were going DUFF HIM UP..then he realised that we were laughing not shouting in anger..we sent him on his way after a quick pat down.

Megadeff were great, and i was right at the front!!! Awesome. But best band of the festival were napalm death, they were just.....napalm death!! They were great as ever. Motorhead were the mutts nutts too, but i expect nothing less, even though they had a couple of songs i never really expected (stay clean and metropolis). Other bands that i enjoyed were Y&T, Ememo J, and what i saw of slash and cinderella. Billy idol was a weird main stage choice, especially above slash, but there u go. Doubt i would ever go to download again unless i got cheap tickets or there was someone really special playing, as it was too big, i mean 40 mins to walk back to the tent from the arena!!!

I reckon that was the biggest download ever, and it won't be that big ever again. Reading through the download forum it seems a lot of punters are fed up with the outrageous food and drink prices, oafish security, lack of free water and the distance between the arena and the campsites. I really think live nation are taking the piss now and a lot of punters will vote with their feet next year.

I'm just amazed at the amount of people I know who go to Download. It strikes me as just lazy when they could go to a European festival for far cheaper.

You’re correct…it is lazy. My mate purchases my ticket for me and picks me up from the door when we go.

I talk of going to a festival on the continent but never go…talk is cheap.

The way I justify the price of festivals in the UK is simple.

I count how many bands I WANT to see, and divide that by the cost of the ticket.

So this year I saw 22 bands I wanted to see, so worked out to £8.60 per band ish.

At Hellfest it was around 3.60 euros a band for me from a ticket at 129 euros ...only thing extra is the flights but as I ordered that early it was pretty cheap and not that far off as i would to pay for a train...plus its only an hours flight from London and half an hour taxi drive which for 10 euros each way ain't bad

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.
