Hammer House Of Horror

Postby Immortalicide on Fri May 11, 2007 10:31 pm

Just seen on news at 10, that an investment company has purchased the rights to the Hammer Horror name. They have just interviewed the guy behind the buy and he says the time is right to reinvent some of the classic hammer horror films!! I used to love watching them when i was a wee lad. Anyone else a fan?? Should they remake old films or just write new ones???

I love the old Hammer classics, especially Twins of Evil, Lust for a Vampire and Countess Dracula. For obvious reasons.
The Lost Continent is another favourite, although not many people (if any) have actually seen it.
I hope they play around a bit with a couple of the oldies first, Dracula AD 1972 style. I think a playful kick start to some old characters would be a nice way to start a new Hammer legacy.
What we need then is for someone to re-animate Amicus Productions and the head to head battle of the English horror studios could start all over again.

the problem is, the studios have been bought by the company who makes Big Brother....

also I bet it's all gonna be shit, they'll try and make them 'like the old ones', but you know it's just gonna be totally wank (like what Slayer said about 'good album illusion')...

Huzzar!

I love the hammer horrors, maybe Christopher Lee could star in one....but he might be too busy being a Singing Wizard Jedi. Though some of the ones with Peter Cushing were rather fun (the frankenstein ones).

Also wasn't Oliver Reed in some of them?

Ha all we need is "Tales Of The Unexpected" (is that what it was called?) to come back now...
I used to love the "Hammer House Of Horror" 1 hour specials that used to be on in the 70's. I remember one about a couple who got lost in the countryside and stumbled on a lonely mansion. The people who lived their were werewolves and one broke into their room and raped the woman. Don't ya just love it.
I thought "Twins Of Evil" was an awesome film... "Strange Love"...

I have the Hammer House of Horror dvd box set. That episode was called Children of the Full Moon and had Diana Dors in it. Good episode but my favourites were Carpathian Eagle, The House that Bled to Death and Guardian of the Abyss (From where Akercocke took the audio sample at the beginning of the Choronzon album)

Remaking the old HH flicks would be wank & making wank new films and just sticking the HH name on it so it'll sell is also wank.

wank.

They should leave it be. HHOH without Lee or Cushing is not HHOH.

I love Hammer films and anything they do now will be the same MTV generation bollocks 'horror' that you get at the cinema nowdays.
It'll be pissing on Hammers name. This sucks.

If it ain't broke........

One of the pleasures of Hammer films is the (somtimes poor) quality.

Leave well alone I say.

Start a campaign to "re-imagine Metal Hammer"- Now that I would support.
