Yes they do plan to release it on DVD, though I don't know when. It is obviously not a huge budget thing so I don't know how available they will be, but it is well worth tracking down for everyone here to see.
I really enjoyed the film - it has looooads of interviews ranging from Lars Ulrich and Slayer, Gene Hoglan, to Mille and Angelripper, right up to the no doubt less popular Phil Anselmo, Corey Taylor and Chimaira - but all are interesting and illustrate what thrash was like 'back in the day'.
As someone said, Mustaine's comments were pretty entertaining, and I also thought Blitz from Overkill was a right laugh! At one point he shares the joke:
- "what has two thousand pairs of legs and two breasts?"
- "an Overkill show!"
Another great moment was when someone commented that every thrasher is actually a tiny part of Paul Baloff!
I thought it was excellent how it covered so many themes as well, discussing the thrash scene area-by-area, but also other things from the dress code to moshing, stage diving and the impact of grunge.
The film was clearly made by a thrash fan and for thrash fans, and I think that was the best thing about it.
Atom and I had a drink and a long talk afterwards with Rick the Director, as well as the Assistant Producer (and former Overkill drummer) Rat Skates: both really great people and I'm sure Tom will agree, a very inspiring discussion.
So what more can be said? Thanks to them for four years of hard work on this film, and it's a treat for anyone who's into thrash!
