Yeah Hank Williams is the shit.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

The Kentuckians bloody rule, your dad gets high praise indeed.
Did anyone else watch the american folk season on bbc4?
Yeah I did. Got C.W Stoneking's album after watching it. Fookin' pr1m3.
I've been into Irish folk since I was a kid, usual suspects Dubliners, Pogues etc. Then the obvious American stuff like Woodie Guthrie and Dylan. Recently been getting into English stuff, it's great, just google and you can usually find loads of bands from around your area thst play cool stuff. Usually old men with big beards but there are some young guys playing too.

Re: Country, anyone??
There's a well good country/folk/jazz/blues band in weston... crap, already mentioned them.... haha
I get to see them live, it's amazing! About half the band are at least in their 50s and they're all very amazing instrumentalists, the mandolin player also makes mandolins! I love the folky scene in weston, the old guys are always well sound, there's this pub where lots of em go and there's usually impromtu jams and such

(they're from my town so I guess I'm lucky!)

I went to see Johnny Cash in Chicago in '94 and he was excellent. I was never that much of a fan (we went 'cos my parents were visiting and my dad was always a huge Cash fan), but I really enjoyed it. Glad I got to see him before he died. My wife somehow managed to get tickets in the second row, dead centre as well (then-Atlanta Falcons coach Jerry Glanville was sitting right behind me - that was weird).

That is pretty bloody special, Cash is one of the gigs on the list I'll never get to tick off.
