Disc 3 IS FFVIII haha. You lose all freedom afterwards, which is bloody rubbish.

I think with IX, it's one of those where you look back at it and wonder what you ever saw in it, then when you pick it up again it comes flooding back and you're revelling in nostalgic tears. Then you stop playing for a week and forget again  If I'm honest, most games that're worth playing I've played so many times that I can't really be bothered anymore - hell, I haven't played Street Fighter in ages. Maybe I need something new... or just dig out an ancient PSone title I haven't played for years. Vagrant Story? Bushido Blade? Dragon Valor? TOO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM!!

Speaking of Dragon Valor John, here's a download for it's soundtrack. Epicness incarnate, I think you may enjoy it... good game too if you can find it: http://www.mediafire.com/?jmzztm2mhmo

I used to have a mortal kombat side scroller on the ps1 where you played as sub zero which was pretty cool.

Oh Knights of the Round (linked with MP Turbo of course), what wonderful joys you bring me!

Only thing left to do (I've decided I can't be arsed to tackle Emerald and Ruby just yet) before I head down into the crater is get the bloody Omnislash. Dave, you remember how long it takes to get all those motherfucking battle points in the battle square? I don't know if I can bear it all over again. Although the quick save ability of joy would mean I don't have to do it all in one go.

Good God, what a hive of nerdery this thread is. I would never share my attachments to fantasy or sci-fi based gaming systems on the internet!

The problem with it Jon is that you have to do it all at once - and the W-Summon Materia costs twice as many Battle Points as Omnislash haha. the key is to get the shitty, but not too lethal reels (if you have a ribbon, poison won't do shit).

Also, nerdery is awesome.

I did it! It didn't actually take long at all, and the ability to use save states helped immensely. Omnislash joy indeed. I didn't bother with W-Summon though. All I wanted was Knights of the Round and Omniboys before I went down into the northern crater of amazing music (that track 'Judgement Day' is definitely my favourite game music ever, even more than the Lava Reef zone from Sonic 3 & Knuckles).

Wonderfully, I ventured into a new area in the crater that I had never seen before in any of my previous plays, it was a lovely area where the music went all nice and I found the Shield materia, and fought lots of little pots who wanted me to give them elixirs, and I got loads of lovely AP from them.

I've saved my game and am finally about to fight Jenova big boys. I might veture back up through the cave to get W-Summon & Final Attack and fight old Emerald and Ruby, but I haven't decided yet!

I always liked Bizarro Sephiroth's battle theme "Birth of God". That bassline is bloody amazing!

Retsrated Symphony of the Night again just to try out luck mode. Gave Death the big middle finger by exploiting the infamous keep-your-awesome-starting-weapons glitch, but the luck mode fucks your stats like hell - 70HP usually, this time you start with 20HP. Fucking 20! That's barely one measly attack!

Only just saw that - you never had the Shield materia before? I'm disappointed Mr Kushner! That said, I've played FFVII more times than I could possibly count

I honestly can't believe you of all people are mocking this.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

You wouldn't even believe how much of a real treat it really was! It really was a lovely joy for my wonderful brain.

Indeed Dave, I never did get the Shield materia before, although I think I had it once when I had some Action Replay cheat fun with FFVII some years ago (also that's the only way I ever experienced the Master materias and 4x-Cut, as I have never been bothered to try and beat Emerald and Ruby, and the amount of AP it takes to get 4x-Cut is bloody mental). But even when I finally did get the Shield materia, I never needed to use it because I was so mighty and powerful by that point, especially with all those lovely Megalixirs and Hero Drinks!

The Bizarro Sephiroth theme is indeed amazing, in fact I was listening to it tonight whilst attempting to read about Business Information Systems! Wonderful stuff.

AP farming is piss easy. x3 materia growth weapon (Apocalypse for Cloud, Javelin I think for Cid) > Explot W-Item glitch for lots of Elixirs > go to Shield materia area > fight Magic pots repeatedly > profit.

Now sit yer ass in that goddamn chair and drink yer goddamn TEA!!

Metroid Prime is great, I never got it on Gamecube when it came out and a copy I found on Ebay for £2 has been keeping me thoroughly entertained!

Also, Megaman X is now on iPhone! Rejoice!
