Whats your favourites in this genre?
Mine would be Massacre, Morgoth, Obituary, Death, Morbid Angel and Atheist.
Definatly my favourite genre at the moment. Some bands pretty much sound the same in it, like Morgoth are just like deaths Scream Bloody Gore stuff all the way through, but i love that.

Anything they have done Harmony Corruption onwards is tits. Always a good sign when you are watching a video of a band on the laptop and your woman enquires "what is that??" in a slightly offended manner. This happened last night when I was watching a video for "Necessary Evil".

Gotta be the mighty Death for me. Untouchable. Schuldiner was and is still one of the greats. Gotta love a bit of Obituary aswell.

Autopsy, Entombed and Repulsion are all fucking awesome too, might I add. Was listening to Clandestine the other day, shocks me how many good riffs live in that album. Obituary are kingly too but Death are the ultimate.

Re: Old School Death Metal
The best old school death metal band list has to include Monstrocity, but ONLY for the imperial doom LP. That is just the most amazing death metal LP ever. Other must haves are scream bloody gore, seven churches, left hand path, slowly we rot, deicide, the karellian istmus, subconcious terror and in battle there is no law.

Strangely I always found Imperial Doom a bit boring, at least compared to other gems from that period. The 10 Commandments is superior!

Morbid Angels Alters... is amazing. Obituary - Slowly We Rot is top for me at the moment. Ive got the remastered version on CD (trying to get the origional) and the demos on there are amazing especially Find The Arise.

yeah i rememeber the xecutioner demo from my tape trading days, great stuff. And yes bill, malevolent creation were bostin to. Coronation of our domain is a truly amazing track. Other classic bands i ommitted include autopsy, suffocation, master, incubus and goreaphobia.
