UKThrash Web Store?
So..as we are a UK Community and we all want the best for all the bands and heads involved in making this Scene amazing, i wondered if the lovely people at UKTHRASH would ever consider setting up a UKTHRASH online store where you can buy all sorts of great merch and EPs, Albums, Compilations etc from the bands and UKthrash branded items? just an idea innit

YES THIS IS A VERY GOOD IDEA INDEED.
It can work like independent record shops work perhaps, on a 'sell or return' thingybob, if that's what it's called. Basically, the bands give the shop all their shit, tell them how much they want each CD sold out, then the shop will add on an extra pound or two which they keep for themselves, and give the rest back to the bands when it sells. And if it doesn't sell, they return it to the band.
MARVELLOUS PLEASE.

Re: back in 5 minutes...
Didn't Jamie try and do this before?
Would be great idea to do this properly without Jamie since I've heard of the threatening e-mails Jamie gets from people who he forgets to send things to.
All we would really need is a page on this website with links to each band's paypall.

Re: back in 5 minutes...
We could all invest in http://ukthrash.bigcartel.com ?
I think it is £9.99 a month to have a premium store with lots of goods on. If 10 bands were involved, it's only £1 each a month. I'd pay our £12 upfront to cover costs.
Then again, who ever sets it up has to manage the sending of goods and also holding the stock... or will it be a case of whenever something is sold, emails are then forwarded onto the relevant bands? And whoever manages the email just manages the sending of money made after admin costs etc.
But like Bastard Child has suggested, just maybe setup http://store.ukthrash.co.uk and have a link to every bands merch page / website / bigcartel etc.
No cost involved as such only 30 min's of setting up a page/sub domain.

The second one is more likely like James said its all pretty simple to setup a store. Id have no problem doing the UKthrash distro.
I had been toying with the idea in the past even releasing shizzle.

Is this gonna happen, if not, make it happen because it's a great idea.... as long as the service is prompt! If a douche bag doesn't get the CD's to customers in a week then every band gets tarred with the same brush....

I concur that this would be a good idea. I can't imagine it would be that impractical to organise as well. DO EET! Oh can we not pay by paypal, please.

Caps, Pay Pal is the way, you dickhead, get with the times, it is nearly 2010 maaan. its the future now, so get used to it.
When i tried to do this 2 and a half years ago, all i got was a lot of bands saying "yeah this is great" and nobody actually really giving forward their important details about the pay pal codes and stuff... so it became an impossible task. I think its a killer idea, especially with a paypal store sort of thing, as you can do it so easily. Now UKThrash is laid out a lot more convienently to include a store too. If all the bands have their own pay-pal buttons, and you don't use a basket you just buy everything indervidually (a littl annoying, but not terrible really - like my spelling) then its not even a big deal, the bands can hold on to all their stuff at home and just send it out when they get orders in their inbox, like they would with their own myspace/webstore paypalzz, its just another place to pedal your wares really, but a good one which would get regular visitors and some degree of advertising.
Rock my balls off James and Craig, make happen what once i thought was simply a mad idea.

Definitely an idea worth looking into, I haven't really got time to look into it properly at the moment due to university assignment hell and trying to learn a a whole show's worth of bass parts for an amateur show I'm doing next week, but it seems like a nice idea.
I'll look into it more seriously in a few weeks, but in principle it's great

Re: back in 5 minutes...
I've been looking into this more now I've got some free time. The easiest way to do things from my view is to run a "PayPal store" where bands give us:
This will then be stuck onto a webpage which will have quantity and PayPal buttons, like a 'real' store. When someone clicks on the button, they pay the email address, and it's up to the band to send the item out.
Everything easily in one place and the onus isn't on any one person to 'run' the store as such. The only problem I can see is stock levels, someone from the band will have to let either me or James know when something is out of stock or unavailable so we can mark it on the store page.
What do people think?
- the PayPal address for payment
- Description of whatever they want to sell (CD, shirt, beer mat)
- An image of the stuff (photo, cover art, whatever)
- How much they want it sold for
