Chess

Postby MartinC on Fri Aug 20, 2010 3:05 am

Does anyone play/enjoy chess? I played it a lot as a youngster and used to go to tournaments but I never fully immersed myself into becoming a chess nerd, but just recently I've been going a bit mad on it and playing all the time against my computer and people online. If you like chess, you should sign up to the website I'm on and play me.

Waaaaaaaa!!! Chess and warhammer - what has become of meeeeee!?

I remember playing some chess game on my grandads PC where the pieces came to life and battered each other, that was pretty good.
I want to get one of those novelty chess sets based on like a TV show or film, but without the regulation horsey or castle shape I'll get confused as to which piece goes what way round the board.

Strange that you posted this as I've been well into chess recently! Haha!

Really got a hankering for some chess, I've been watching chess videos and reading chess books and everything!

Me too! I never used to know much about the tactics and strategies, I just used to try and wing it but a lot of the time that resulted in me getting torn apart. I've been using http://www.chess.com to play online, because you don't have to download anything, you just sign up.

Check this video out... this is how super serial chess can get...

I'd be tempted to play but you all sound a touch out of my league. My bro used to play for England when he was younger - went to Russia and Europe as well. He's still very good. I just don't have the logical, strategic mind to play the long-game and I'm seriously susceptible to blundering.

So, I'll give the chess a miss. Going to start scrabble people over the net soon, if anyone fancies it.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

It's just far too much effort.

It's not if you can beat someone in four moves.

Yeah,

1, Stand Up
2, Pick up board
3, Open Bin
4, Release.

I'm not saying it's shit really, i used to be pretty decent. I just seriously can't be bothered to map out moves any more.
