Yeah, as long as it sounded like Seventh Son and not AMOLAD!
I was watching some Youtube clips of Adrian Smith doing some "guitar lessons" for a website. They were quite hilarious because he is so quiet and doesn't really know what he's talking about technically speaking! And yet he has crafted some of the most awesome melodic heavy metal solos ever. I then watched some compilations of various Adrian Smith solos, and was reminded why he's my favourite Maiden guitarist. Janick can fuck off!

Re: Sauron
Janick is piss-poor all round. Smith is one of my favourite guitarists ever. He wrote quite a lot on Somewhere In Time, hence why it's clearly their best.

Re: Sauron
As an all-round member of Iron Maiden arguably so, but surely you don't mean as a guitarist/songwriter?

Yeah, Dave Murray isn't that great really. He basically does the same hammer-on/pull-off stuff in every solo whereas Smith approaches solos with a lot more thought. The solo in Wasted Years is a brilliant example of Adrian Smith's style.

LOTR themed Heavy Metal is Heavy Metal. I need to get my finger out of my ass and form a LOTR themed Heavy Metal band or put my finger in someone else’s ass.
