Did Brian May from Queen invent Thrash Metal?
Have a listen to "Brighton Rock" off the 1974 Queen album "Sheer Heart Attack". There is an extended instrumental break in which he plays what can only be described as a Thrash riff at 2'41" & 3'06". Metallica must have been familiar with this record, as they later covered "Stone Cold Crazy" off it, so Brian May: Thrash Godfather? That is unless you know better...

Black Sabbath symptom of the universe?

This predates both Motorhead (formed 1975) & Symptom (released 1975) though. What I am wondering is did Metallica like the riff, steal it and write songs? They were not afraid to do that, listen to Diamond Head "Sucking My Love" for example, which they took for "Seek & Destroy".
