Listened to the myspace tracks, not too bad but not anything special. Its not my cup of tea to be honest tho (and i like death metal)
Id say that killing fields is prob as good as it gets but overall there are a few pedestrian riffs throughout the demo that dont really do much. Having read the talk up it go beforehand i expected more, but when its your own band you can tend to get blinded by what you produce id say. Still a fair effort tho and if the reviews are good then thats enough to keep any band happy.

Nice review. I don't think there is much special about what Heretic do though. Surely most people can see it's melodic death done well. I don't mean this disrespectfully but the 'grind' and 'death' influence in the music really amounts to deathlier style of thrash which puts Heretic in the realms of At the Gates and Arise! era Sepultura (though not quite as complex- not necessarily a bad thing). Good, solid music and really a lot of modern thrash is equally as much in a similar vein.

While I'm at it I may as well answer to those things on the rager thread (considering it applies far more to Heretic, anyway). Martin C is obviously a music fan, not a thrash fan. However, his band are a forward-looking (arguably) thrash band. Therefore, he and his band have a place on this thrash forum as do his views. However, having no loyalty to the old thrash sound he obviously looks for progression in thrash (regardless of how futile that is). Therefore, he is likely to criticise the more nostalgic acts reardless of the quality or the passion of their music. I don't even find the shit Martin says that harsh, just a little blunt. It's certainly nothing to fight over and even less to waste posts over. Anyway, there's my two cents. Well done on he deservedly postive review.

Yeah id agree with that to be honest. I wouldnt consider you's thrash really, prob more death metal if anything, tho more kinda older style, not technical.
