Hang in there Mort!!! He is doing my napper in too (he actually puts me off watching any of the Glasto and Reading/Leeds stuff that BBC do live on the telly). Hopefully the gig will make up for having to listen to all Zane's drivel before it.

They are broadcasting the special gig Metallica did last night from 9pm. Lots of the new songs in the setlist apparently. Zane Low is currently playng songs by bands who claim to have been influenced by Metallica (Biffy Clyro, Lost Prophets, Jimmy Eat World, Snoop Dog, Foo Fighters... ).

if that was the case, then they would be playing songs by mortal sin, acid reign, onslaught, sepultura, exumer etc etc etc. Pfft!!!

Letter bomb?

I think that's the real downside to Metallica having done so well: you have people like Zane Lowe rave about them and do the devil-horn gesture, making themselves look like complete cunts in the process. It wouldn't have bothered me if the whole thing didn't spill over so that people do walls of death at Lost Prophets gigs and etcetera.

Wall of death at a Lost Prophets gig sounds like a good idea. As long as they do it properly and they all die.

For some reason, wall of death makes me want to think of a Diana joke. Alas I'm too thick.

Since i downloaded this I've not actually been bothered to listen too it.

I figure that there is enough good music to save me having to listen to the mediocre album that seems to be the consensus around here.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

yeah i agree with princess diane. I'm not going to listen to what will probably be an "ok" album just because theyre Metallica and made some good records in the '80s. I'll listen to some nice Elbow instead.

I've listened to it a couple of times. I've not had it on heavy rotation or anything but have been able to realise Metallica have done something much more worth-while than they have done since Re-Load. Come to think of it, they've done something more worthwhile than pretty much any other Thrash band recently.

Does anybody else who's bought it think the packaging is utter shit? Tissue-thin paper for the booklet with that fanny/coffin thing cut out from the centre of all the pages, leaving half the lyrics unreadable and the pictures with bloody great holes in them (apart from the band photo, obviously).
