I dunno how i didnt hear this before!!

But the Astoria in london is closing down at the end of the month!?!?

WTF i love it thier! I saw my first metal gig at the Astoria!

I cant belive the government is tearing down such a prestigious venue for a fucking crossroad thing thats gonna connect the east and south by a direct train. This is BS it really is!

Well i hope who ever authorised this dies from getting hit by a train

There have been mutterings about this for ages, but didn't realise it was finally happening. I too have seen some memorable gigs there, such as Megadeth, Saxon and of course Sabbat.

It is a cool place in some respects, although I once paid over £3.50 for a CAN of Carling there so I wont miss that! There aren't many London venues of that cool 'large but not massive' size though, so I hope it doesn't reduce the number of big name acts (e.g. Dio) that head to London.

Thankfully, I'll willingly pay more to drink half-decent beer. I flat-out refuse to drink Carling, Miller, Tennent's etc. I only really drink Guinness, wine or vodka to be honest.

no apparently it literally is way to late . They are just fucking tearing it down. I think the last gig thier is at the end of the month and its some indie thing with loads of indie shit bands.

Dio and Megadeth were def two favourites i saw thier. I can see it discouraging bands to come to london as it was small enough so the band can get intimate with the crowd but big enough so the sound is good and so is the atmosphere.

I hated brixton wen i went so i hope bands dont start playing thier!

EDIT: Also if you need a cheap beer then carling is your best bet.

I refuse to drink ever ever Fosters.... disgusting disgusting vile drink. Carlsberg tastes worse then carling but is same price...

I usually like a pint of guinness, Budweiser or heinikan or if i am at a weatherspoons coors cause its £2.10 a pint!

I'm more annoyed that that club Sin is closing to be honest. It was open til bloody 6am.

The Highbury Garage is back, is slightly more intimate, and if I remember slightly cheaper for drinks.

Theres still the Electric Ballroom, The Forum, The KoKo, obviously the Underworld, the Scala, I'll miss the Astoria for sure tho, but I prefer the more underground smaller gigs these days tbh.
