US Big 4 vs. German Big 3

Postby James on Thu Nov 09, 2006 2:12 am

Slayer
Megadeth
Metallica
Anthrax

- vs -

Sodom
Destruction
Kreator

~~

For me the answer is clearly the German Big 3. Apart from Slayer, the others just get owned so totally.

Hard choice - if it came down to albums I probably worship more by the Americans (Rust in Peace, Kill Em All, Show no Mercy, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Hell Awaits) but as an overall style and influence I'm much more interested in the Teutonic Steel!

out of those choices I prefer the germans. If you had said Exodus, Testament, Overkill versus the germans I would have chose the bay area/New Jersey bands.

The Germans do it for me most, while the American bands have wimped out the teutonic knights are still being fast and aggressive.

While Metallica were making St Anger, Destruction were touring clubs and playing songs from their killer new album. Fuck the big 4 now but they have had a huge part in my life. Its a shame that they are not really part of it much any more unless im listening to their old albums, which can get a little boring.

I heard 'Metal Discharge' round my friends house last year or something. It was pretty good, but I've never checked them out as such.

Too close for me. The US has Megadeth and Anthrax whereas Germany has Kreator and Destruction. None of the bands in the poll are the best from their respective countries though.

although it's true the big four have wimped out, they wrote the more classic thrash albums in my opinion. I have more respect for the germans because theyre still heavy but It's just not my type of thrash when compared to classic American stuff.
