Going to the gig the other night has got me thinking, Nebukadnezza have been on the scene for absolutely ages and years and yonks, are a fucking amazing band, have played the Underworld about a gajillion times, have just released a new amazing album, and yet still no one seems to care that much and no one bothers to go to their gigs.
Why is that? Do Donny's mental deficiencies really put people off that much, or is it just because they don't seem to have the same hype that other, more accessible bands have had? Not that any other bands that have had the hype don't deserve it - I just think Nebs deserve it just as much.

Re: Nebukadnezza Album out now
Here is my professional metalhead opinion:
1 - wall of noise. It's always harder to sell a wall of noise band.
2 - not technical. many wall of noise bands shred insane solo's which gets them press.
3 - punkish. Nebs have punk roots in their delivery. The hiss from the back line, massive gain, feedback and loose playing style. A lot of thrash fans like tight clean delivery.
4 - They don't sound thrash, they don't sound death... fall between the cracks.
5 - Three piece bands often sound flat live. On the album there are layers of guitar, can't do this live.
6 - They don't play the intro's to the songs... man if they played "Believed me.... if I started murdering people, there'd be none of you left" I think it would build anticipation in the pit and it would fucking EXPLODE.
7 - Stand to far apart of stage. If they stood one meter closer their presence would impress the crowd more, 2 meters closer and cold fusion may occur.
I like to ask random people at gigs what they thought of the band and Nebs always get a good review from randoms so they are making an impression.
I would possibly get another guitarist, definitely play the intros and stand closer together
Am I right or wrong.... you decide.

I agree with Jon on this, i know i a guilty of what he is talking about but Nebs are one of the most amazingly talented bands i have ever seen in any genre!
Watching them live i am in total awe of them, i mean Adriano alone.... But you've Fred and Donny as well. i mean honestly.
Nebs are fucking amazing and deserve WAY MORE ATTENTION!

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I shall give you my thoughts on your points and provide lovely counter-arguments!
1 - That's probably true... but it shouldn't be too hard to sell to fans of that kind of thing, surely?
2 - Not technical in the solos perhaps, but their riffs can be pretty brain-destroying sometimes.
3 - Another valid point, but then again aren't fans of thrash also fans of other styles of music, extreme or not? The majority of people, even metalheads don't just like one genre of music, let alone one sub-genre of metal.
4 - Again, as point 3, does it have to be one or the other? Are people really thinking, 'this isn't thrash or death therefore I shan't like it'? Surely the fact that Nebs have an original sound that can't quite be defined makes them more original and more brilliant?
5 - That's a fair, not much one can do about that. Apart from getting in a second guitarist, which I think would spoil the nice dynamic between the three boys.
6 - They do! They just didn't do it at the last gig. But the last few gigs before that, they did play the intros, and it was nice, but didn't seem to excite people any more than normal. But it was nice.
7 - I think this point depends on the size of the venue really, but it is an interesting point indeed.
So that's what I think, maybe.

I think Dazza's 4th point is probably the best; people don't really know what to take away from a Nebs gig, whereas other bands will stick in the mind as being either A or B. Their fusion of hardcore/thrash/punk/whatever isn't for everyone, but they are undeniably excellent players and a great 3-piece unit. They seem to have hit a bit of a glass ceiling though always being the London support, which is a shame indeed.

Re: Nebukadnezza Album out now
Remember it's not just about the fans pondering if a band is thrash or death. All bands do a dance of being unique enough to be different but generic enough to be easily describable to magazine readers, labels, friends....
Aren't Nebs organising a Euro tour? One of my favourite gigs EVER was Nebs and Origin. That would be a brilliant tour to take around Europe.

Re: Nebukadnezza Album out now
I have always loved Nebs, from when I first saw them years ago to their recent gigs which just seem to get tighter and tighter.
I have always maintained that they are (in my opinion) the most extreme band I have ever seen. They are totally un-commercial and almost unapproachable, this is why I like them.
No other band in the extreme metal genre comes close to matching the spiky 'fuck-you-ness' of the band, for me anyway. Its just totally Nebukadnezza.
They deserve to be signed and all that shit SO much.

You should check out all the Relapse Records bands out there like this. They sign some preopper wierd bands that are amazing. If Nebz were to ever get signed....... Then i could imagine them being on a label like that.

That's exactly what I love about Donny. As a frontman, you'd be hard pushed to find anyone else with more integrity and honesty than this man.
Sorry, what am I saying, he's a shit retard and a loser and I hate his balls.

Re: Nebukadnezza Album out now
I find Nebu fit into a death/grind with thrash elements genre,..but even then...they're just extreme metal innit....right?! ha ha
The recent tracks have been such a massive improvement on already decent records and live when the crowd aren't the 'foldy arm death metal' lot, the atmosphere is always wickid, loads of fun like.
And believe me, I've been pestering Fred and Donny to let me be the 2nd guitar player for AGES (then we can call it NebukadFaraz, which would be frankly brilliant,) but the fact that they make such a racket with 3 of them spells danger to the universe, and I think it's unsafe for anyone else to try. People's brains would melt and drip out of noses, the testicles of all men measuring at the height of 6"3 would pop like balloons ( you tall bastards ) and the internet will literally be that big button from the south park episode.
And we can't have that.

Re: Nebukadnezza Album out now
I agree with James that point four is probably the biggest complication for Nebs but you can throw in the three 'punk-y vibe' as an issue as well. Ultimately, bands that really meld genres (rather than just plucking bits from others) suffer numerous problems. Magazines struggle to pigeon-hole them and, therefore, fail to accurately represent them. Fans and gig-goers, while often finding things they like, also find bits that they feel don't really 'fit'. And, on top of this, finding appropriate gigs for the band becomes difficult because they never quite fit the bill. This becomes all the more apparent with Nebs because they are so extreme. Thrashers and hardcore listeners normally find it all too much and those with an ear for extremity want it all the way and generally reject deviation from the full-throttle formula.
However, it is Nebukanezza's unique-ness that makes them so good. I like my punk, my thrash, my grind and beyond. I don't really like much metalcore, can't stand deathcore. Nebukanezza manage to combine the extreme edges of my favourite musical stylings and turn it into a really nasty beast. Ultimately, those that are into the band will really like them; most others will be left a little unsure of what to make of them.
The album is grand by the way. The second half is just furious while the first half has got a much thrashier feel. At first I preferred the first half but now I'm enjoying them both mightily. Awesome. Awesome band.
