from what i've seen of the US version it's really good but inevitably suffers when compared to the English version.

Only the first 1-2 series (there are currently 5) bear any plot resemblance to the UK version - then it goes off in its own direction, and has excellent writing and develops most of the minor office characters far more.

Today I met an American who also agreed that whilst the US version is good, the UK version is much better. So if he doesn't mind us laughing at him, what harm's done?
