Your gay side

So this got me thinking, what bands do you like that everyone else thinks are completely gay? - Are you a closet Nightwish fan or anything equally lame? I think we all have atleast one band that your friends will bring up to shoot you down. "Yeah but you listen to Lacuna Coil so what the fuck do you know?" style.

Mine are Nickelback, and a lot of pop punk stuff like some Sum 41, Allister, Blink 182 etc.

Kamelot (including their ballads), Meat Loaf (only some stuff though), Edguy (their ballads are shit though, too gay even for me)... and well, according to Faraz, pretty much every other band I listen to. I used to like Nightwish but then got very bored of them a little while after they released Once. I can't think of anything else I like that's gay at the moment though. I don't know, would Oasis be considered gay to a bunch of metal fans? Maybe, but they're well 'ard. Basically though, most of the music I listen to is amazing.

As if you just classed Meat Loaf as gay. Who doesn't like Meat Loaf?

Well, quite a lot of people I know... Put it this way, I wouldn't listen to Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are in front of any of my friends, but I'd listen to it on my own and cry my eyes out.

I've actually never met anyone that have said they don't like Meatloaf. I thought it was a given that they're great.

Yeah, me too, until I started openly admitting how amazing I thought Meat Loaf was...

ABBA
Big Country
Blondie
Bruce Hornsby
Daft Punk
Duran Duran
Fleetwood Mac (Buckingham-Nicks era)
James Taylor
Journey
Level 42
New Order
Pearl Jam
R.E.M.
Radiohead (pre-Kid A)
Sheryl Crow
Supertramp
The Cult
The Eagles
The Smiths

I love Hair Metal too, so...

I seldom listen to music I think is shit but, from a Metalhead standpoint, I think most of what I listen to can be considered 'gay'. Most of my mates have recently got into AC/DC, Motorhead and Saxon in a big way in recent times so I do take a slagging for some of the stuff I listen to. When I look at the above list and add stuff like Def Leppard and Van Halen, however, I can't believe how amazing my music taste is. I mean, if you don't like bands like Duran Duran and Fleetwood Mac, there's really little point in not killing yourself.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick here. Half of that list aren't embarrasing in any way, and the other half I don't know.

The idea of someone going "Yeah, but you have a little Pearl Jam collection at home don't you you big fanny!" is just ...not gonna happen.

Daft Punk aren't gay surely, they're super cool! Bloody robots and futuristic joy, anyone who says that Daft Punk are gay is a bloody gay. I wouldn't call Radiohead gay at all either, they're amazing, and quite respectable from what I gather. Anyone who thinks Radiohead are gay is an idiot.

I think Radiohead are gay. But not in the way I mean in this thread, but they're still dick'eads.

Lev, you've been at UK Thrash long enough to know that's exactly what happens most of the time.

If I edit my list down to the gayer things, I'll go with:

Blondie
Bruce Hornsby
Journey
Level 42
New Order
Sheryl Crow

I don't get embarrassed about any band I listen to, so it's difficult for me to think of stuff I would call 'gay'.

Any dance music from the 90s

Like Iain said, I'm not embarassed about anything I listen to.

I basically listen to anything i think is good, i don't care any more.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...
