Opinion on a demo?

Postby Andbawr on Mon Jun 28, 2010 3:14 pm

Hello, Im in a young(15-17 years old) thrash band from Edinburgh, And we have just recorded a demo of 3 songs, I was just wondering if any of you could be so kind to listen to a song or two and give us some feedback?

Everyone around here that ive spoken to seems to be ear stretching hardcore kids that keep asking "Where is the breakdown?" and "why no screaming?". And everyone else just doesn't reply on Myspace. So if any of you could give us some constructive feedback rather than, "lol its shit". It would be much appreciated.

Thanks xD

Not bad at all. Keep at it. Some decent riffs in there.

Intro to Self Destruct is a bit messy and the drums are out of time. Riffs don't do much for me with the tremlo picking and the vocals feel like they lack something in the chorus. Like the vocalist is holding back or something. The solo has that buzzsaw tone but it doesn't cut through much at all so there'z just a fuzz sound in the mix.

I'm not a thrash fan. But to be honest it's decent. Just needs a little polishing and maybe a bit more going on sometimes. The vocals needs to be more powerful too cos they seem like they're really held back.

I agree on the vocals sounding like they're reigned in. The pace is a bit much for the lack of intensity. Listening to the singer, he should listen to Kurt Brecht (DRI) to sort of see how to get that 'human' (sorry, can't think of a better word) agressive tone. But the songs are short, snappy and (most importantly) fast - all very good in my eyes. Lots of potential - all the more credit to you for being young 'uns (a decade younger than me).

Are golden temples a symbol of God's way

Very promising. For me the singing needs a lot of work. It's either held back or just not very good. While everything else sounds like promising thrash the vocals sound like weak hardcore.... just doesn't gel. Singing lessons would sort that out tbh.

You've got plenty of time to find a voice though, Keep up the good work.
