I likes my modern westerns I do.

Valley Of Ellah
History of Violence
There will be blood
No country for old men

The slowness of the plot gives me rare inner peace in my head.

I really want to watch There will be blood.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

The ending shot will tear you a new one, Daniel Day has never been bettered IMO.

He retires then thinks "nah, fuck it, one more" blows everyone out the water then retires again next year.

He is pretty much the best actor ever.

Especially in Gandhi. He only has one line and it's an ethnic slur.

All brilliant films, except for In the Valley of Elah, as I haven't seen it yet, but it's on me rental list for next month, oh yes indeed (but isn't it a film about Iraq, rather than a western?). I enjoy a bit of western Tommy Lee Jones. There Will Be Blood was fucking fantastic, and No Country For Old Men was just bloody downright amazing. Have you seen the remake of 3:10 To Yuma? That's also very good, not amazing, but still good. But, another modern western that's fantastic is 'The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford'. Also a very slow film, but so wonderful and with lovely cinematography and great performances from Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck. Nice.

Oh and here's another wonderful thing, not strictly a film but it doesn't matter, I just started getting into the Sopranos (finally), coming to the last couple of episodes of the first series, and it's fucking brilliant! Like a soap opera with gangsters and sometimes very funny too, and Tony Soprano is bloody great. I love it.

Hotel Rwanda was terrible. As far as I could tell it had no plot other than Africans killing Africans and people in a Hotel running away from the Africans killing Africans.

This is INCREDIBLE! So many fails! Anyway, considering Hotel Rwanda is about real events, maybe you should watch it again and imagine the harsh horrors of the scenario in the film. My Dad and I were both in near tears during this film and I'm pretty sure we both had an episode of 'white man shame' during it as well.

By the by, Si, I reckon you're a decent person but just incredibly wrong about a lot of things (though a Cathedral sig raises your status nicely...).

There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"
