Did you ever bother reading the Simon Sebag-Montefiore books about him? I found them quite entertaining. Molotov passing out on Stalin's couch and being sick on himself was a particularly humorous story.

They are on the to do list, i actually have about 90 thousand books to read at the moment and my work are getting a bit fed up of me sodding off and reading for 8 hours.

Avoid the Catherine the Great one like the plague. Boring as fuck. Both the Stalin ones are quite good, though.
